Tuatahi, he rauemi matihiko hei whakahikohiko i ngā akoranga. He rauemi whakakoakoa i ngā tamariki i a rātou i te kura.
I toko ake te whakaaro i ngā kaiako e rua nei, kia kōtuia ngā akoranga Rangaranga Reo ā-tā, me ngā rauemi matihiko. Kia whakahikohiko i tā te tamaiti taiao ako. Kia whanake ai i ngā pūkenga matihiko ā ngā tamariki Māori.
Kāore i tua atu i te tākaro e ako ai te tamaiti.
Ngā mihi maioha,
Te Whānau o Taiao Hihiko
Helping tamariki learn through play, curiosity and connection.
We believe that learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. It happens on the floor, in the whare, outside in the pā harakeke, through laughter, questions, and discovery.
Too often, the way our tamariki Māori learn doesn’t reflect who they are or where they come from. The systems in place can feel like they’re made for someone else’s world, not ours. That can leave our kids feeling unseen, unheard, and disconnected.
Our tamariki Māori deserve learning tools that speak their language and spark their imagination, but many miss out. Taiao Hihiko is here to help close that gap.
They don’t always get the chance to explore tech resources in a hands-on way, or to use and grow their te reo Māori.
We know how powerful it is when learning starts with culture, with whakapapa, and with identity at the centre. When our tamariki see themselves in what they’re learning - in the reo, the stories, the tools they use - they don’t just learn, they shine.
That’s why Taiao Hihiko are creating learning experiences that are hands-on, exciting, and grounded in te ao Māori. So our tamariki feel proud of who they are, and confident in where they’re going.
